Would Season Eight have visited the Mirror Universe at all?

That might have been cool, Season Eight happening and it deals with other loose ends and stuff, like the Mirror Universe, we see an episode where the evil crew does a mission there and it ends with Picard or someone having a nightmare but it isnt, it really happened in that universe and they saw it.
Or Q shows up and brings Picard to his ultimate test, to the Mirror Universe, where his counterpart is an evil bastard that is corrupt as hell and also a complete coward, where Spocks reforms never happened and things got worse, everyone is evil and corrupt as hell and everyone meets their evil counterparts, only Q himself also meets a Mirror Universe Q who is even worse than he is, and even more pathetic, he hates himself and leaves with them after also being humbled.
So the experience that Kirk had could happen again with The Enterprise-D, a living hell for all.
Also maybe they would have sent the crew to the Gamma Quadrant to explore after the Bajoran Wormhole was discovered, tons of fun and rumors of a hostile group called the Dominion, maybe even first contact with the Jem'Hadar, that would be worse than with the Borg.
They could also bring back the Maquis and Ro Laren, let them return and cause chaos, nearly wreck the Federation, setting up events in later on for Deep Space Nine and Voyager, another fun thing would be Cardassian aggression, have them pis off the Klingons, Romulans and even Ferengi, show why everyone hated them so much.
Season Eight could have been full of stories and plot twists, they might have missed a great opportunity by ending it at Season Seven. -

Season eight was never an issue it had already been decided that TNG would end after seven seasons to focus more on the TNG movies.I don't see why people seem to think that there were going to be more seasons? And it was a good thing they stopped because during season 7 it already was obvious that they were looking for stories to fill the season.Plus they wanted to explore the DS9 universe more and make a new series with a new crew and a new mission VOY with fresh stories to tell.

Sorry
But this is not the first post about this subject and since there is a lot of fan-fiction books out there I'll bet the OP can find the stories he described in those books of the franchise.Plus the OP seems to keep posting these "What if ?" scenarios that are not hypothetical but are things that will/would never happen on Trek so sorry for my reaction but I would suggest for the OP is to check out these fan-fiction books. -

If an eighth season were expected, Season 7 obviously would not have been what it was, and Season 8 would end up having 7's distinguishing features, in order to wrap up the series to take TNG to the big screen.
I don't personally believe they would've done a Mirror Universe episode because at the time TNG was trying to be it's own show without much more additional support from TOS stuff. They already did a carbon copy of TOS The Naked Time, and they brought in McCoy, Sarek, Scotty, and Spock aboard, to sort of give the semi-official TOS stamp of approval for the show. TNG unintentionally created a bit of a division among Star Trek fans, with those who consider TOS to be the "real" Star Trek, versus those who were willing to give it a chance and stick with it. Doing a Mirror Universe episode at that time, even if it's a last season episode, might've damaged what they were trying to do, give TNG a sense of its own identity apart from TOS. -

Doubt it TNG always avoided TOS based stories or even references Season 1 did have the The Naked Now but that episode was so bad I don't think anyone wants to even remember it.
Anyways by Season 7 they were completely out of fresh ideas of what to do. -

Well during season 7 it was quite obvious they were grasping for good and fresh stories otherwise Sub Rosa would have never been green lit or episodes like or Masks ,Genesis,Firstborn(Klingons were interesting but this Alexander stuff was too much)and Attached who were also not of the quality of the previous seasons.

Probably. Based on season 7 they should have stopped after season six. There are some good episodes in the final season but few and far between.
And the movies? Well, First Contact was good. The rest not so much. Nemesis was almost as bad as Final Frontier and Insurrection, while not bad, would have made a mediocre tv episode.
TNG just didn't translate to the big screen all that well. -
