This movie was extremely interesting and looked great on HD DVD on large television. Ennio Morricone was robbed of the Oscar that year to some silly jazz score by Herbie Hancock. Ennio recently voted 20th greatest film score of all time for this one.
Remember seeing the trailer for this film as a kid in the 80s and fancy watching it but knowing it would be too complex. I love re-visiting big Oscar winning films like this one now I'm older and can understand and appreciate grand complex themes like are covered in this.
I thought Robert DeNiro and Jeremy Irons were both terrific, and a young Liam Neeson! What a career he had ahead of him after this film.
Avatar, Pocahontas influenced by this story?
Funny cause I recently saw "The Mosquito Coast" for the first time recently and there are parallels. -
