      Yes. I became obsessed with
      Gabriel's Oboe
      when I saw
      The Mission
. I thought: what a soft, calm and beautiful melody it conveyed. The music is out of its world, fully deserving of the recognition it's received since.

Heard it LIVE a few weeks ago by Ennio himself. It's now (30 years later) one of my favorites soundtracks. I had tears when I heard the choir perform live.

I actually think that as a movie it's only so-so… the characters and plot are rather forgettable, even dreary. But Chris Mendes' breathtaking cinematography and Morricone's beautiful score make it seem like a better film than it is.
