In the original script, he went to a Burger King after he got back and met her and laughed and told her she would have purple hair one day. I'm friends with the girl that played Jennifer Bradley and she said she auditioned for that role also. I guess they deleted it from the script to save time and from what Carolyn said, she was in a military family so the chances of her being in Ft Lauderdale as a kid were remote.
