I think he was referring to the macabre sense coming from the main killer. But it could be seen as having the basic plot of
Dirty Harry
, the action hero of
Rambo
, and the serial killer mood of
Se7en
.
Or essentially, "
Dirty Harry
meets
Rambo
meets
Se7en
", if you add the latter in, despite it being made 9 years after
Cobra
. But it is a nice bit of perspective to it.
