You are absolutely right. Joel Schumacher also directed "The Lost Boys". And that movie featured a saxophone performance by muscular musician Tim Cappello.

I don't know about his other films, but the scene on Halloween where Lowe is playing the saxophone and says "Let's rock!" had me laughing so much. I had a hard time seeing people their age jamming out to saxophone "rock." Except maybe Leslie, Alec and Wendy. They might have thought it was cool.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing you are probably too young to remember the 80s well (or maybe were a pure hardcore head banger?).
The sax was considered totally cool then. Wailing on a sax or going wild on a guitar.

Ha, yes, I was born in 1985 so the only popular sax music I'm familiar with is Kenny G, and suffice it to say that was not popular with me and my friends! But that's funny because while I've become familiar with a lot of 80s music, I wasn't aware the sax was so hot back then!

For me it was the bit at the start where the gang sing that song at the piano, sounds like something they would be singing in the 1920's, not something we ever would have done back then. Not with that sort of song anyway.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.
