In the John Parr song, there's a line that goes "Soldier on, only you can do what must be done."

In the John Parr song, there's a line that goes "Soldier on, only you can do what must be done."
Until the late 1990s or so, I thought it was, "So Gerard, only you can do what must be done."
Anybody else make that mistake? -

I know this an old post, but I just have to share my misheard lyrics of this song.
I was 15 when it came out and bought the single in summer of '85.
Towards the end of the song where Parr sings:
"I can hear the music playing, I can see the banners fly"
Now don't laugh.but I always heard (and also sang along).
"I can hear the music playing, I can see the
pandas
fly"
Yes, I did wonder to myself that it made absolutely no sense, but I liked the image of pandas flying, so that's how I always allowed myself to hear it.
It wasn't until many years later online when I read the lyrics that I laughed out loud saying."ohhhh! THAT'S what he's saying!"
But you know what?I still prefer the image of the pandas flying and continue singing it that way.
