Tough to argue with the stats. 49k+ voters and it's got a 7.2. On this benighted site, that's pretty good; I'd say, by and large, they like it just fine. I trust you've noted that the five IMDb staff who voted only give it a 5.9, and even the 556 Top1000 voters give it a 6.5. That's life.
This used to be a signature

7.1 is more than fair. There is nothing about this movie that stands out to make it an amazing movie other than the fact that it was part of the Dead trilogy, and in many ways was the first of its kind.
That is the big pro, being part of the Dead series, and a first.
Besides that, none of the cast is above average, the plot while not bad can drag at times, and nothing about the plot is amazing. No one is memoriable in the movie besides our "bad guy" and why is this??? One reason, his fate at the end of the movie was pretty wicked.
Even if you updated the special effects, if this movie were made today I honestly think it would be rated around 4.5-5.0 and would likely be a made for TV type of movie.
You can disagree with me but I challenge anyone to defend the 7.1 rating and tell me why it deserves to be rated at the same lunch table as Captain America (6.9), Thor (7.0), Man of Steel (7.1), Titanic (7.7), Troy (7.2) and the many other 7s out there. This movie you can say with a straight face stacks up to ANY of those mentioned? Put aside modern CGI, I am talking about Just production value (for the time)story telling, acting, etc etc.
So I'm just saying7.1 is VERY generousas in reality this movie deserves IMO somewhere around a 5.5. It's a cheesefest zombie movie. -

Well, I think it's the best of all the Night of the Living Dead sequels and gave it a 9/10. The characters, acting, special effects, story, and music are all excellent. Bub could've easily come across as cheesy but he didn't. The idea of trying to domesticate the zombies felt very fresh and creative to me. Captain Rhodes is one of those characters you love to hate, and it's fun to root for Sarah and her team. I consider this one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen.
