Have you seen this? It's not Sven, but it's a movie that Sven would certainly cover. I've never seen this before. It's a total cheese-fest!

DotD is easily a top 3 all-time zombie movie.

Warren might prefer the Nick Cannon version for a cheesefest

I don't think I'm aware of that version either.

Yes I did see it once many moons ago so I do not remember much from it but watching the preview helped.
If I recall, the military guy was power mad.
I mostly agree with him and thought he was right but he didn't have to make threats against the survivors.
And I think it was wrong of the Mad Doctor to be bringing in the zombies which is what I think may be blamed for them coming in and taking over the shelter?
I think it is too dark and violent for Sven to show it.
It was rated R and they would have to cut out a lot of stuff.

You're totally right. I had not watched the whole movie when I wrote that thread and tagged you. Once I watched it, despite it being very cheesy right down to the Hammer-style blood, it was still very violent and bloody, so I agree that Sven would not be covering this one.
Yep, the military guy was definitely power hungry and mad as a hatter.
The doctor was creepy and abusing the zombies. I mean, I get it, they're dead and all, but the way he engaged in vivisection was just disgusting.
The ending confused me at first because I couldn't determine if it was a dream or if she was marking off the first five days of November as their escape from the zombies. I cannot imagine the zombies were isolated to one specific area.

Sometimes it takes me more than one viewing to fully comprehend it or to help me memorize it better so I miss things in the first viewing.
Or if I know of a moment coming up then I am only focused on waiting to seeing that and the anticipation or excitement kinda gets in the way of really being fully engaged with what leads up to it.
For this movie it was when the military guy gets ripped apart and when he realizes his fate his final words are, "Choke on them!"
One thing I do remember is someone gets their arm infected and someone else hacks it off before it spreads to the rest of their body.
Something that was then repeated in the more recent zombie thriller Z which stars Brad Pitt.
I prefer the old school zombies myself.
Even though it was never explained how the dead came back to life, they were just there, I prefer that to the recent suggestion they are just brain dead with a virus.

Totally same! I watch movies (and even TV series) a few times for the same reason. I enjoy the rewatches because I often find that I pick up on things I missed the first time around, or like you said, if there was a certain event, I want to rewatch that specific thing more closely upon the next viewing! I do that a lot with movies and series I really enjoy.
You're right. The lead female had chopped off her boyfriend's arm when he was bit and she cauterized it. It looked unbelievably painful for both of them. Good acting for a cheesy film because she looked like she realized how much pain her boyfriend would be in and it pained her to do something so horrific to someone she cared about, and the guy getting burned was reacting like he was genuinely in a lot of pain. Great acting in that particular scene. Not all scenes were acted that well. That stood out to me as well.
I'm not a zombie fan so I haven't watched many zombie flicks. I'm more a fan of vampires so I've seen a lot of those movies and TV series. Something about zombies just never really appealed to me.

                    It's a total cheese-fest!
It's the final installment of George A. Romero's 'Dead' trilogy which began with Night of the Living Dead in 1968 and was followed by Dawn of the Dead in 1978, and it's highly regarded among horror fans. In 'Night' the zombie outbreak was just beginning; in 'Dawn' the zombies were taking over the world; and in 'Day' we see the final survivors of the zombie apocalypse coping with a world overrun by the living dead. Considering the minuscule budget Romero had to work with it (he wanted more money but the studio wouldn't give it to him), it's quite an achievement. Tom Savini's special effects are especially great (no modern CGI garbage) and the characters are some of the most memorable in the series (including 'Bub', the first domesticated zombie).
It's considered to be the "darkest" and most pessimistic of Romero's 'Dead' films and it contains Romero's usual social and political observations. If Dawn of the Dead was a criticism of mindless consumer culture, Day of the Dead was Romero, a self-admitted liberal, railing against militarism and the brawn over brains mentality of Reagan's America. It's far from a cheese-fest imo. Dare I say it's one of the more thoughtful and intelligent zombie films ever made.
