There's been a lot of pretentious crap pretending to be something that it isn't but Commando knows exactly what it is: a vehicle for Schwarzenegger with cartoon violence, heavy duty military hardware, gunfights and explosions galore, camp villains with a Freddie Mercury clone in the final 'boss fight'. Surely the blueprint for all those shoot-em-up console games that followed in subsequent decades.
It's escapist, improbable nonsense and it's thoroughly enjoyable.
