I've seen this movie several times because we used to have it on video tape, but in my mind I thought it was a Tom Selleck movie. Now that I see it was Christopher Reeve, I've started remembering it correctly again.

You're thinking of Tom's "High Road to China" w/ Bess Armstrong

That's it! I've seen both several times, but it was a long time ago for either, and I've combined to two movies in my mind.
"My movie" starred Tom Selleck (HRTC) as an air-mail pilot (TA) and Rosanna Arquette (TA) who is looking for her missing father (HRTC). They crash in the mountains (TA) and battle a Chinese warlord (HRTC).

Oh my god, same brain! Were Arquette and Armstrong playing similar characters? Because those movies are getting mixed up in my aging memory.

Glad it isn't just me! I'm not sure since it's been so long since I saw either, but maybe they were similar characters.
