There aren't any threads on this. I've been reading the TC comics that came out in 2002. They continue where the series ended. They are pretty good with more serious stories and content. So after I read these I'll get my hands on the ones that came out in 1985 or something. Everyone check it out.

I personally did not like the 2002 Thundercats comics. Even though they continue from where the series left off, their overall tone is just too different from the cartoon show. The comics have a lot of unnecessary violence, foul language and strong sexual overtones (Lion-o killing mutants, Panthro cursing, a skimpily clad Wilykit bathing Mumm-ra). It was the absence of these things that made the cartoons such a great animated series. I grew up watching the Thudercats and have always loved the show so I was quite put off by the comics. But that's just my opinion.
The 1980s comics were better. The stories were more in line with the tone of the show but their artwork wasn't so great.

Interesting. I would assumed everyone like the 02 comics just because it's darker. I guess they could step it up with the comics and I did enjoyed the darker side. I have to check out the 80s version. I am watching the series to catch up on the episodes I missed or I thought I missed or don't remember. Saw the last episode before I read the 02 comics. Can you confirm for me if Bengali died in the 02 comics?

Since the revelation never came many Thundercats fans eventually presumed it to be so, that it was Bengali! since he didn't appear in the 'Dogs Of War' series that followed on from Thundercats: The Return!
Far as the 80's Marvel star comics go. Think you'll certainly enjoy them as they were written by the Marvel comics writing staff at the time who added sophisticated levels of their writing into the series which was unheard of for comics based on Saturday morning TV series cartoons.
The issues from 1 to at least 16 were brilliant. And you should be able to torrent them from off the internet in DPF format or in Comic Book Reader format. Although you'll get greater pleasure from going to the comic shops and getting back issues though.
          If your interested..

I still have the number 1 from the 80's in mint condition. The only comic I have that's mint though haha.

I used to have at least one issue of the ThunderCats Marvel/STAR comic series from the late 80s. IIRC it was an adaptation of the Time Capsule episode, with a totally different ending (instead of Lion-O winning the capsule in an arm-wrestling match with a single caveman in the cartoon, he finds out a tribe of cavemen use the device to grow food and after a scuffle against a couple of them whom insist the tribe will starve to death without the capsule, he decides to just let them keep it)
              Tim (aka the Slipperman)
              I ❤ Rina-chan
