Obviously so that he could be got at easily and become a bartering tool for the robbers. Blame the writers.
But at least something actually happened in tonight's episode. Surprised the hell out of me. Best scene in ages. Makes a fine change from the boring rubbish bins, nativity play, will-they/won't they Bex and Shakil and the "riveting" exploits of Yellow Phil bullcr@p of late.
And may I say I agree with a few other posters about Mick's RIDICULOUS Michael Jackson reference when his son's very life was in danger. Again, hello, writers! Were they trying to be cute or something during the one actual decent scene since the new EP stepped in? Wow.

I wouldn't be surprised, although if it was left up to him, it would have to rhyme and be said with the thickest Cockney accent he could conjure. Jerk.

People tend to say stupid things when under stress. I'm not defending the writing, just putting it out there.
            Sheryl? Is that Sheryl?

No they don't, masked men endanger my baby and I'm going to be making a Michael Jackson joke to armed strangers, don't be stupid.

It could be worse he could have stated using cock-on-knee rhyming slang:
Masked guy: "Just give us the money!"
HRH Danny Dyer: "I'll give you the bangers and mash. Just put down my current bun".
Masked guy: "Why do you keep talking about food? I don't want food. I want money!"
