    No offense to Ry Cooder, but a synth score would have worked much better for this movie IMO.

        Disagree - Too much synth would have tied it firmly to the 80s, whereas the whole movie intentionally mixes genres and eras with the styling, costumes, scenery and so on.
        As is, the score has a lot of synth, but it's more replication of instruments than outright Gary Numan style Electronica. Just listen to the drumbeat of Nowhere Fast, for example - I promise you that is not a real drum kit!

          I agree, it would have been too 80s feeling in era, if they had went synth. Also I thought Nowhere Fast does use real drums, cause when the song is played on the stage, the drummer is banging on real drums.
          They are electric drums but still drums.

            In those days, it's more likely to have been a drum machine than electric drums of any kind. Probably programmed by Jim Bralower, or something, too!!
