I've enjoyed reading through the message board on this film. It's funny when you see words repeated over and over again by different people. I get the feeling people just parrot what they hear other people say. Words like "sublime" seem to be popular.
The first hour is excruciatingly slow. I've seen the arguments about how each shot was a reflection of the feelings of the characters. That's just great, but it'd be nice if somethinganything was happening in those scenes. You could have cut 30 minutes of that and had the same impact.
The second hour of the film is very good. Once Stanton decides to find his wife and bring his son with him the film becomes very interesting. The scenes where he speaks to Kinski are poignant, well acted and powerful. The interaction between Stanton and his son are equally touching.
Overall, 6/10. I'm glad I stuck around to the end. But if anybody asked, I'd tell them to watch the first 15 minutes and then fast forward until Stanton and the kid hit the road. -

You're a bit retarded aren't you? Checking your profile is good for a laugh. I'm hoping it's a physical disability from birth that causes your condition. That would make you a sad but understandable case. Otherwise you're just a loon.
Have fun hating life and 80% of the movies you see. -

Haha!! My ratings? OK there crazy guy. The guy that thinks 70% of every movie he sees is a 3 or worse thinks other people have ridiculous ratings. Haha!! I love crazy people like you. Always good for a laugh.
I have the feeling you're that guy at work that when you walk into the lunch break area, everybody hurries up and gets out of there before you start talking to them. -

First hour 7.
Second hour 6.
Last half an hour 10.
I found the first hour and the mystery with Stanton's speechlessness etc intriguing. Scenery and music was great too.
But if anybody asked, I'd tell them to watch the first 15 minutes and then fast forward until Stanton and the kid hit the road
Well you would be dead wrong the story needed the buildup for the last part to have full impact.
Overall I'd rate this 8,5. -

It's one of the greatest examples of a film with an extremely prolonged first/second act, but it's worth the payoff. The last act is the most emotionally-wrought that I've ever seen. I am not someone who cries in general, and
especially
not over movies, but I actually cried at the end.
