Okay, it's shown that stuff from the dream world can be pulled into the real world. When Freddy loses the hat in the dream, it appears in the real world. Thus, if its in the real world, he can no longer obtain it. Yet, his glove remains in the real world because the Lieutenant's wife took them as a souvenir. So how is he able to use them if he doesn't have them? So objects in the real world can exist in the dream world without disappearing, but stuff in the dream world can no longer exist if it is taken into the Real World?

The glove that Mrs Thompson has in her basement is the original, real world weapon that Freddy used to murder children, taken most likely from his murder scene. The one he uses in the dreams is just a mental construct, like the rest of him.

maybe before he had gloves on both hands.
This is the most stupid post in this thread. Yeah, because the glove that Marge hides in the cellar is clearly a left-handed one.
Why is that stupid? Gloves come in a pair, don't they?? I thought he might have had 2 also and he lost one of them.
I found this article: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/11/the-many-looks-of-freddy?page=1
It says that Freddy DID make more than one glove!

First of all, the glove with the knives was custom-made by Freddy himself. So, it didn't "come" in anything. It's not like he bought it in a clothing store.
But I will gladly explain you why the comment was stupid:
The commenter was referring to the original poster's question why Freddy still has his glove in the dream, even though it turns out that if you steal his hat in the dream and take it to the real world, Freddy doesn't have a hat anymore.
Therefore, the original poster concluded, the fact that we see Marge hiding the glove in the oven in the real world should be a reason that Freddy doesn't have a glove in the dream world.
But we still see Freddy wearing his glove, so why can the glove exist in the dream and in Marge's oven while taking the hat from Freddy in the dream and bringing it to the real world results in Freddy not wearing a hat anymore?
The premise of this question is false, but that's not the point here. The point is this:
The commenter took the original poster's question at face value and answered:
Maybe the glove that Marge owns is from Freddy's other hand, so that the glove she took from him indeed doesn't appear in the dream world anymore. Freddy can still use a glove because originally, he had gloves on two hands: One was taken by Marge and cannot appear in the dream anymore and the other one is still in Freddy's posession.
But this assumption is absolutely stupid. Because this assumption can only be true if one of the gloves is a left-handed glove.
Gloves are not like socks that are interchangeable. Especially Freddy's glove with the bended knives: If he uses each one on both hands, the left-handed one would be a mirror image of the right-handed one.
And the movie clearly shows us that both gloves, the one that Freddy uses in the dream and the one that Marge is hiding in her cellar, are right-handed gloves.
So, the idea that Marge took the glove from one of Freddy's hands and he himself retains the one from his other hand
cannot
be true here. Because both gloves are
right
-handed ones.
It might have been less stupid if the commenter had said: "maybe before, he had a spare glove".
But he explicitly said:
maybe before he had gloves on both hands
And this is a stupid kind of justification for why there are basically two gloves in the movie. Because both gloves are still right-handed, so Freddy most definitely did
not
originally use these very two gloves on both hands. -

Not everyone pays attention to every single detail in a movie. It really wasn't that stupid. Your reply just makes you look like a dick. -

I
am
a dick, but that's beside the point.
You don't need to "pay attention to a detail". The implication from the mood of the scene is clearly that Marge has the same glove that Nancy saw in the dream. This one being Fredy's primary glove is the
default
assumption.
Theories like "Maybe he had gloves on both hands" is therefore not comparable to "I didn't pay attention", it's making stuff up for the sake of making stuff up.
Especially since the original poster's assumption was faulty to begin with, so the replier didn't only invent something on the spot that, I bet, he literally has never thought of before writing his reply. He didn't even think about whether the original poster's assumption is even a valid objection to begin with. -

In the very opening scene, he's shown making a new glove with knives. So apparently, he had lost his original and couldn't do any killing until he made a new one.
I always assumed that this is supposed to be a scene from the distant past when Freddy was still alive.
The screenplay even intended this scene to end with an outside-shot, further implying that the glove-building scene was from when Freddy was alive and isn't a scene in the nightmare world:
Then the MAN'S HAND slips into this glove-like
apparatus, filling it out and transforming
it into an awesome, deadly claw-hand with
four razor/talons gleaming at its blackened
fingertips. Suddenly the HAND arches and STRIKES
FORWARD, SLASHING THROUGH a DARK CANVAS, tearing
it to shreds.- EXT. LOS ANGELES. NIGHT. (2nd Unit) 1.
A PULSATION OF LIGHT AND SHADOW. MUSIC DROPS AWAY to a hushed
RUSHING OF WIND and DISTANT SIRENS. CAMERA RACKS INTO FOCUS on a
HIGH PANORAMA of the San Fernando Valley, its night sky lit from
within by a strange GREENISH LIGHT. TITLES BEGIN.
CAMERA TILTS DOWN and ZOOMS SWIFTLY into the valley's web of
light.
(If you're wondering, in the screenplay and during filming of the movie, the location was intended to be Los Angeles. Only part 2 changed it to Springwood and it wasn't until part 6 that it became the state of Ohio.)

I'd always thought it was supposed to be part of the dream but now that you mention it, his hands aren't burned in that scene. So I think you're right.

It's a dream world. He can create anything he wants.
If we're going by that logic, they all should've been chased by a skeleton because there's no way Freddy would be in that state, plus have clothes intact. -
NESPlayer — 9 years ago(July 22, 2016 12:26 PM)
When Freddy loses the hat in the dream, it appears in the real world. Thus, if its in the real world, he can no longer obtain it.
Who says he can't? Maybe he just chose not to use it anymore. That's why he can use a glove even though there is one in the real world.
But even if we go by the logic that Freddy cannot duplicate stuff: Well, the glove was taken from him before he was resurrected as a dream entity. Therefore, everything he had when he was resurrected was created from scratch. (Otherwise, he wouldn't even be able to wear clothes or have a body at all since all this still exists in the real world, even if it's in dust form.) But Nancy took Freddy's dream hat, therefore, he doesn't have it later anymore. -
wakezakzak-89190 — 9 years ago(July 25, 2016 12:09 AM)
I only say that he can no longer obtain it because throughout the duration of the movie following him losing the hat, he never has it back on, so I assumed that with the hat in the real world, he couldn't obtain it. Which now makes me question how did he retrieve it for Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, but that's a different discussion.

I understand your reasoning. That's why I tried to explain it:
You asked why Freddy can have a glove, even though Marge has the glove in the real world and we have seen that Freddy cannot retrieve his hat when Nancy takes it from him. Therefore, he shouldn't have a glove at all since it's in Marge's possession.
That's my explanation:
Every
piece of Freddy existed in the real world. Apart from the glove, you could also ask: How can Freddy have shoes in the dream when his real shoes should be in the real world? (Maybe burnt down, but still existing in ash form.)
Or: How can Freddy have bones in his body when the real bones are buried in that car?
So, this means that when Freddy was resurrected, each part of his living self was duplicated in the dream world: His hat, his sweater, his pants, his shoes, his glove and his body were recreated and copied in the dream world.
That's the reason why Freddy can have a glove in the dream world and the glove still existing in the real world: During Freddy's resurrection, everything was duplicated, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to exist at all since
every
part of him has a counterpart in the real world, not just the glove.
Now, if Nancy takes his hat away, she takes the dream copy of the hat. That's why he doesn't have it anymore. Because the copy process was a one-time thing when he was resurrected. -

That's a pretty good explanation. Its a shame the other movies didn't go by that logic. In the sixth film and Freddy vs Jason, we see Freddy wearing a leather jacket over the sweater with the hat and glove out of sight. The pilot episode of Freddy's Nightmares got it right.
