In 1983 the soundtrack for this movie was released before the movie was. The songs were all by Joe Jackson of "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" fame. I thought each song was superb. Then the soundtrack got replaced prior to the release of the movie (and oh did Jackson trash the movie verbally during his 1984 summer tour (his hit song at the time was "You Can't Get What You Want 'Til You Know What You Want").
I was just looking at Jackson's official website. That soundtrack was never even made into a CD. Makes me sad, because I once owned the vinyl record but no longer have it, and will not be able to hear those songs again. One title I recall was "Laundromat Monday" and another was "Memphis." Oh well. Good try by Jackson, even though director James Bridges elected not to use the music. -

Side 1 of the Mike's Murder soundtrack is available on the 2 disc reissue of Night and Day. Side 2 was the instrumental versions, not on the reissue. BTW, Joe is going on tour Spring of 2006 with most of his original band mates.

The Joe jackson soundtrack to Mike's Murder is currently listed in collectors choice catalog (www.ccmusic.com) . I do not know if it is the complete soundtrack since the listings only have what I believe is side one (side two is instrumental versions of side one, if memory serves me right). They do not have a copy of the cover to display, either, so if it is only side one available, you would be better off with the deluxe reissue of Night & Day.
