Why didn't Frank Welker do a better job of imitating Leonard Nimoy's voice for Galvatron?
They hired Nimoy, a more expensive actor to voice Galvatron in The Movie. I understand they wanted big name stars in the credits to bring in viewers to the theaters, yet they should have realized this would be a problem when the series continues on television.
Shatner, Nimoy and the rest of the Star Trek cast were the most highly paid voice actors in a Saturday morning cartoon in the 1970's. Bringing back Mr. Nimoy to do the Transformers series was cost prohibitive.
Mr. Welker is known as a voice god in Hollywood and I cannot figure out why he did a very different voice for Galvatron in the series than what was heard in The Movie.
Maybe Welker could have simply done his Megatron voice again for Galvatron. Any thoughts?

It's quite jarring to go from Nimoy to Welker, but I honestly liked how Welker's Galvatron sounded better. Nimoy just sounded like a gruffer Nimoy. Walker sounded insane.
So many stories, so little time.

I am glad someone provided an honest opinion.
I do like how Frank Welker voiced Galvatron in the TV cartoon. Going from The Movie and back to the television show, the voices sound very strange.
No explanation is given why Galvatron's voice changed though all of us simply figured that he was badly damaged after being beaten by Rodimus Prime and then being buried in lava for some time.
The same thing can be pointed out in Knight Rider with KARR returning in the third season after apparently falling to his doom over a cliff. First our beloved Peter Cullen (from this show) voices KARR in the early episodes of KR and then Paul Frees (of Disney fame) took over. The voices don't match presumably because the salt water damaged his circuits among other things including his light scanner.
Do you suppose that Cullen was unable to return to Knight Rider because he was busy with The Transformers?

That is a good question that I've never looked into. Maybe it was a pay dispute? I honestly don't know.
