Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Airwolf

I'm only rewatching it on Hulu due to sentimental reasons. The only part of the show that I like these days is when Stringfellow Hawk is in his cabin playing his cello. Everything else is ridiculous.

      Dukes of Hazzard cheesy? Sure.
A-Team cheesy? Yeah, I guess so.
Airwolf, specifically season one of Airwolf cheesy? Nope.

The 70's and 80's are certainly synonymous for cheesy shows but i consider this show to be one of the less cheesy ones.

Cheesy is subjective. But the show is definitely very fake. The action scenes are too predictable. Everyone misses Hawke, while Hawke never misses. There's no fun in a show that that's predictable and one sided.

Actually, Airwolf was hit twice in one episode by non-destructive missiles.

i saw the first episode of this on hulu, and it is actually half-way decent. there is a international flavor to it, particularly the bit about Gaddafi who was a pop-culture bogeyman back in the 80's. the acting could be a bit better, however.

Slightly revised opinion - the pilot was very good except for a goofy part where Hawke gets into a firefight with Libyan soldiers and they all miss him from short range.

I could have created a whole new thread, but I thought I'd respond to this one, as my comment involves cheesiness in the highest degree.
I've glanced through the subject lines of this forum and can't believe that nobody has mentioned the huge, honkin' elephant in the room about this show.
                        'Archangel,' and his all-white suits.
I mean, come on, it's bad enough he has that eyepatch, but to have the character dress completely in white all the time?? That's so corny and cheesy that my eyes practically roll out of their sockets just thinking about it. To make things worse, the young woman, his assistant, wears all white as well. (At least she did in a couple of episodes.)
                        Talk about cheesetastic!!
Also,is this the show in which Bellisario began his penchant for heroes with ridiculous names and family issues?
Stringfellow Hawke - searching for missing brother (who also has really weird name)
Thomas Magnum - daddy issues because his father died when he was so young (although his name isn't weird)
Harmon Rabb - severe and ongoing daddy issues (and the name sounds like someone's choking)
Leroy Jethro Gibbs - wife/relationship issues
By the way, props to Bellisario for using the name Jethro not just once but twice. On JAG, another character has a strange name; Admiral A.J. Chegwidden's name is revealed to be Albert Jethro Chegwidden. I guess Bellisario liked Jethro so much that he decided to use it for the Gibbs character as well, when NCIS was created. Two Jethros in one show? What are the odds?
(Even though Bellisario isn't involved, Mark Harmon & Co. even kept up the weird name thing with NCIS:NO, and the character Dwayne Cassius Pride. Gah, I can't even type that name without my eyes rolling out again.)
