Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Cujo

stabbed in the front with the broken bat by the mother. As Cujo was being stabbed, some extra different colored fluid came out of his head and/or neck/throat.
She watches for seconds as Cujo lay there. Then it must have been
a good couple of minutes later that Cujo comes crashing through
the door and lunged at them. I call BS on that.

It's a movieFICTION. Suspend disbelief for two hours. I will never understand why people come to a board of a FICTIONAL movie and say things like "that would never happen." Well, in the world of the story, it did.

In reality, of course not but this is fiction so the impossible can happen. Beside this ending is
only for the movie where they need a "final" jump scare

When the villain is dead with still 10 minutes of the movie left, you know they are not quite dead yet.

Totally agree and very irresponsible of the writers. Instead of letting viewers feel sorrow for the poor dog and all his victims, the writers throw in another scare. So dumb.

What is dumb is people think movies should be real. It isn't a movie if it is. Duh!
No more IMDB boards for me!

I think everybody's missing the OP's point - or what I took to be the point. I felt like that was a cheap shot, too.
It's not that we can't suspend disbelief for two hours. It's that we're incredibly sick and tired of that boring old Hollywood ending where the monster/bad guy gets stabbed 15 times, shot in the head, torn to bitty pieces, has all the pieces stomped on and the buried, then in the final 5 minutes he comes back to life for one last lunge at our Mary Sue.
I can buy a big dog like a St. Bernard not being quite dead yet, if that stake missed his heart; it's just that the movie goes to such lengths to prove to the audience that he's dead and then resurrects him for no reason other than to make me scare me. That trick hasn't worked on me since Friday the 13th; that was the first and last time.
I almost feel like Annie Wilkes screaming "It's not fair! He didn't get out of the cockadoodie caaaar!" LOL at myself.

If it deals with real subjects, such as rabies. Then I expect some realism where that is concerned or else it is not worth watching.
