Pavarotti died today. Do you think his passing will inspire more interest in this film?

Yes, maybe Hollywood can make this genre with Il Divo

It came up as a mistake in his career in an obituary I read, I would guess this will generate more interest in it.

I'm still hoping to find this film, if only because it's a big of a relic and a footnote in an otherwise remarkable career.

I saw a VHS copy selling on ebay yesterday.

The bid's currently at $10.50, which isn't bad because this film is rare. And there are several copies on Amazon.com starting at $26.43. Still, I think I'll look around a bit. I usually do pretty well at thrift stores and used record shops.

TCM is showing it right now (1:57 pm, PDT, February 4, 2009). It's so, so, bad. The thing is, they're supposedly only showing movies this month that received Oscar nominations. It's inconceivable that this immense turd was nominated for anything, except maybe Best Lens Focusing or something like that.

Well, "If We Were In Love" is a beautiful song, so it's no surprise it was nominated. Many Oscar-nominated songs are much weaker than that.
