That's awesome, I'm checking this movie out too just because I saw the Matt and Trey thing on season 2 South Park! Hilarious!!
Plus, The review by Trevor K totally sounds like something that Trey Parker would write -

TA was inspired by Thunderbirds (original series, not that POS movie)
Anyway, I'm sure elements of MegaForce trickled in though I haven't seen the film since '82 (when I was like 12) I still have fond memories of it.
8 out fo 10 for the cool gadgets adn Perseus Khambata!!!! (she was soo hot, too bad she died young, at least she did ST TMP first). -

TA:WP was inspired by many things - the aircraft and puppetry by Thunderbirds, but lots of other things thrown into the mix, too - including elements from Megaforce (e.g. the flying motorcycle, meeting the specialists in the secret underground base).
Parker & Stone (like me) are exactly the right age to have seen & loved this film in the theater as impressionable 10 & 12-year-old boys. And I don't think they ever lost their love of over-the-top cheese - given what they themselves produce!
