The way he walks with his chest out, swinging his shoulders, and squinting his eyes with that "hard" look. This is not like military men, he needs to take that to the hood. That walk down the hall made him look so silly.
If I've never seen it before, it's a new release to me!

A lot of Army brats think they are different than non-military people. If they grew up surround by the pomp and circumstance surrounding the military, they tend to become hardcore themselves. I can see how some teen-agers might get caught up in it the way he did. This is one of the few roles I personally like Tom Cruse in. He played the part of the young punk Army kid who thought hh, and the military lifestyle, are better than the civilian way. He played it brilliantly

Tell me, have you ever actually met young people at a military academy, or an "army brat"? Im betting you haven't. I have worked at a military academy, THE military academy as a civilian, and at Vassar and U of Pennsylvania. The Vassar and U Penn kids were arrogant brats who know it all. The West Point cadets were polite, well rounded, called me "m'am, and, this is going to hurt you, more intelligent than the civilian college kids. There, I have educated you. Go read something.

Come on now. This was awesome casting. They needed someone to play a brainwashable psyco and in walked Tom. This movie helped shoot him to stardom, and he didn't even have to act. Somebody saw something in Tom before he was 20.
