Can someone clarify that for me? I mean, this movie has so many psychological twists as it isbut for some reason, I just can't help but wonder what the pink socks are supposed to symbolize.

At the beginning of the film, when Mark is being interviewed by the panel of men, look closely at their socks. They are wearing pink socks. Especially visible is the man on the very far right of the table.
This is a film where no answers are given easily. My guess is that the group of Pink Sock Wearing Men hired Mark to investigate the goings on of a fellow Pink Sock Wearer, with the intention of finding out if he is still loyal to their organization. -

Perhaps my vision is too materialistic, but my impression was that the pink socks society was a sort spy organization that developed some kind of bioweapon, Mark was exposed and impregnated Annathat would explain the "end of the world" when the movie is closing.
