Just curious.

The problem with the showdown is that it lacks weight, because the hitmen were just two random people we hadn't seen until then, and Sgt Ballard was almost completely undeveloped as a character, so in the end he was just another bad guy to for O'Niel to kill.
I would've given more development to several more crooked cops, and had him take them on as opposed to the company hitmen. Also, rather than Sgt. Montone turning out to be an actual decent guy despite his involvement, I'd have made his "nice guy" attitude just a cover, setting up a confrontation between him and O'Niel that would've carried much more meaning. -

I like it! I'd also have all the spacesuit action not happen in slow motion. They'd fight just like real people, just with spacesuits. I don't know why directors think that the lower the gravity, the slower you can move. Should be the other way around if anything.

Good question! I would definitely have done it differently. Although I like the movie, the hitmen showdown is rather terrible. O'Niel has 60 hours to prepare and he does what? Hide a gun that isn't there afterwards The hitmen act totally randomly, just wandering around. O'Niel watches the hitmen on the surveillance, then wanders out, seemingly without a plan and instantly gets shot and almost killed. And the "professional" hitmen eventually turn out to be complete idiots, getting themselves killed in very stupid ways. I like the suggestions here a lot better.
