    After catching the E! True Hollywood Story about this show on youtube, I then caught an in-joke that occurs in the 100th episode of the show, "The Elevator". Addy mentions to Nell a man named George Krinicki, who in real life, was Nell's husband at the time. They were separated, but reconciled after the show ended. However, they did divorce in 1989.

      There were probably more in-jokes in other episodes that we just aren't aware of..interesting!

        Hello, again. Yeah, I recognize you. Some of the stuff in the episodes might've come from the actor's or writer's own experiences. For example, Nell mentions she tried to commit suicide one time and that did happen during the run of the show. Here's one more:
        Nell rents A Star is Born, which had Judy Garland in it. In real life, Nell knew her daughter Liza Minelli.

          Yes, good examples Steve. And anytime Nell was trying to lose weight, I'm sure they were inspired by some of her own real-life struggles to stay on a diet.
