For an obscure little planet, it must be important enough for them to have created a button titled "EARTHQUAKES". Shouldn't it have just said "QUAKES"?

Do you think that the button is "actually" written in English or in the Latin alphabet?
        No!
The writing on the button was translated into the Latin alphabet and the English language for the moviegoers.
It probably "actually" said something like "mongoshake" or "Planetary Shaking" or "tectonic activity" in Mongo characters and language.

No, a Mongoshake is obviously a sort of a smoothie made with mongos, a new hybrid fruit, a cross between mangos and oranges.

Never mind that s***, here comes Mongo.

That's something that used to bug me as well.
However, I've made peace with it. The use of English on the console is dramatic licence, such as characters in a movie set in Ancient Rome speaking English.
Also, with the use of "earthquakes", I take is as "earth" as a synonym for "the ground" as opposed to
                    The
                    Earth.
