    Why don't they transport Han like any other prisoner? We see them doing so constantly during the whole saga

        It makes sense to transport a Jedi in carbonite or some other form of suspended animation, nobody but Vader could possibly guard him effectively and Vader's got an empire to terrorize!
        Didn't they say they were putting Han in there to test the equipment?

          Yes, after they transferred him into the carbonite,they checked his vitals to make sure it didn't kill him.

              Yeah, Han was there to be the guinea pig. Vader didn't care if he survived or not, he just wanted Luke.
