    I think he made one of the most moving pictures ever, the scene when Merrick was chased by kids at station and unveiling of his disfigurement was one of the most profound study of brutal nature of human beings.
    This is the reason I hate that stupid academy awards, do these guys even know WTF are they talking about? Lynch did it again with Straight Story and yet he is ignored by Acadmey.

        Scorsese deserved so many times, his best IMO was Taxi Driver.

              Robert Redford won for Ordinary People what a stupid concept. Lynch definately should have won for the most touching film of all time.

                and Ordinary People was not touching? Sentimentality doesn't earn an Oscar, the overall best film does. You said "stupid concept", what does that mean? A pretentious way of saying wrong choice?
