if she hadn't put Jones in the hyper sleep chamber? (speculation only, I have been attacked on here before for posting hypothetical scenarios). I've just been picturing Jones flying past the alien as the door on the Narcissus is opened.

Haha, hilarious (and horrible, as I like cats very much) mental image! I would have never thought about this, thanks for sharing this while you could - before 20th February. I'm just very-very sad that IMDb is taking away the possibility of this forever
It clearly shows the care the filmmakers put in this movie - they worked out the logistics of the cat. They are (just like Ripley who rescued Jonesy) good people
