Call me crazy, but despite the horrific murders at the beginning, I actually ended up feeling very sorry for the uncle. He wasn't exactly a bad guy, he was just very ill, to the point of not knowing whether he was coming or going. The nephew, on the other hand, scared the beep out of me.
Did anyone else think this?

Yeah the uncle may have been the killer and had serious issues but the nephew seemed to be truly evil.
