I can think of one. Assault on Precinct 13. The space one too, maybe. Red Mars or something?

THEY LIVE is out and out sci-fi all day long for me, with elements of the action film unwisely thrown in. I think just because the aliens look skeletal people label it Horror.
No, none of them did, although I recall ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK being an overall success and it went on to become a cult favourite.
The point is really, that Carpenter did quite a number of non-horror films.

Carpenter went on to direct many other wide release films (as many non horror as horror) but I don't think any was ever as successful as Halloween. Escape from New York was a minor hit and a few others broke even or turned a profit but The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from L.A., Ghosts of Mars, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, Village of the Damned etc. were all big budget bombs in theaters. I'm surprised after awhile people kept giving him money to make movies to be honest.

Yes, his work declined after the 80s. Decent flicks, low budget, but it kept him employed. I was never fond of his 90s work and beyond. But he had a great run.

i've probably watched his movies more than any other director. to bad his movies didn't make much money
i hate how directors like Spielberg get so much credit. JAWS was the only movie i liked of his. "Raiders" was decent
The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, Escape from New York, and Halloween are some of my favorite movies of all time

IMO Temple of Doom is the worst of the franchise and that's saying a lot after Crystal Skull. At least Skull had Marion, their kid, the awful Shia LaBeouf and a cameo by the Ark. Temple of Doom had nothing for me.

Exactly. See? I'm agreeing with you. Uh-oh, Sparky, you know what that means.
In any event, it was a decent bookend to Raiders, the Ark, Marion, etc. I hear they're thinking of making another one and I hope not. Ford is too old, don't want Shia back to pass the torch to. Skull was a good send off.
But back on topic, I still say JLC is the Queen because she got more mainstream publicity while Crampton, Quigley and the like went straight to video or cable.
There truly hasn't been a woman in modern times (90s-now) who can say they've had similar horror success. Not even Neve Campbell.

True, but it didn't boost her career, in fact, she's kinda stuck there. Which is why JLC got out. Honestly though, the only mainstream movies that were widely theatrically released were the two Halloweens. The Hatchet films and that other one she did which I forget the name of but she was having sex, were all limited. The thing she's known for is stuff she did as a child actor, H4 & H5, Urban Legend and Last Boy Scout.
JLC has had the better career.
