Near the end when he finds the perspex box with the wiring in for the carbon monoxide, he wrecks it. That's called destroying evidence! Also how did the police get there so fast after the op had ended?

His rage briefly and understandably overcame his rational thinking.
As far as the police, perhaps he told staff to call the cops before he ran to maintenance.

Yes, M Douglas always was a bit of a hothead! I like his roles best when he plays sinister businessmen like in 'Perfect Murder' and 'The Game'.
