Most people just think about the main core cast and although Rae was there at the start she does leave.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

Charlotte Rae was a 1st season wonder. She left the show to star in "The Facts Of Life" in 1979.

She's still a part of the show for me. Her character is great. And she did appear in half of season 2 at least.
