Didn't Corlette (Ramon Bieri) offer $8,000 to each driver, so $32,000 in total?
Then Serrano (Bruno Cremer) insisted on double pay plus legal residence, so $64,000 in total
After Scanlon (Scheider) crosses the bridge he says that he and Nilo (Rabal) are on double shares of $20,000 a piece because he thinks the other two won't make it.
That means they were paid $40,000 in total. That doesn't add up, does it?
Also if Corlette is saying that the total money will be shared between whoever makes it back (which we never hear him say in the film) doesn't that give the drivers an incentive to try to kill each other? -

Corlette never agreed to the double wages. If I remember correctly, after Serrano suggests double wages, Corlette just says "you leave in 15 minutes" or something like that. So, double of original $8k (if the others dont make it) would have been $16k, not $20k - closer, but still off a bit.

i thought that as well, gives the team in front an incentive to 'nobble' the other team, they could of cut down the bridge over the river, as it was impossible to reverse along a jungle path all the way back to the fork in the road.
