You know The story is more believable than say Jaws 2, 3, 4. The fact that whales are intelligent creatures helps.

The animatronic work is exceptional for the time.
More of a Moby Dick rip off than a Jaws rip off.
Richard Harris does a good turn as a flawed unlikeable protagonist.
I was rooting for the whale.
This is a good film. B-movie yes but not quite schlock.
