Regarding the Air Traffic Controllers in the near opening scenes which were speaking to the aircraft noting a UFO in their flight paths (but not wanting to make a report after): One of them looks AND sounds amazingly like Morgan Freeman. There were two "Air Traffic Controllers" listed in the credits and more listed as "Air Traffic". Could it be possible that Morgan Freeman did a short 5 minute spot while still doing his stint on "The Electric Company?

I thought of Freeman, too, but I don't think the air traffic controller guy is him. He has too prominent of a scene, in my opinion, to be Freeman who, at the time, wasn't yet far enough up the ladder to be prominently featured in film productions of this magnitude.
But of course I could be wrong. I hope others will soon chime in to confirm one way or other. -

I also agree. Given that the credits have two Air Controllers listed, and the second guy to talk is the one I am considering, his credit reads Richard L Hawkins. I looked him up and he has under a dozen credits with no pictures. But it could be either as both have not updated their database entries.

In the Trivia section I believe it is stated tat all the all the air traffic controllers are actual air traffic controllers.
If Morgan Freeman had been in this movie it would have been pointed out once his career took off. -
