I did read once that the actor who played Duane had fallen ill and was hastily written out. In 1986 he surfaced in an advert for the yts(youth training scheme) with the late Bobby Robson.

Shame he didn't stay on into the diddy sixth form in Series 8 with Precious, Stewpot and Claire seen as he was an original member of his year group and those three were only brought in really as replacements etc.
