      No way. Not perfect, but no where near a 3. A solid 7.5. Very entertaining.

          Yes, Kong's first appearance is built up VERY well. I actually love this movie until it moves off Skull Island. Same with the '05 version.

            It's flawed, but still pretty good overall. 7 out of 10 from me.

              The film IMO needs to be judged on its own terms, independent of the 1933 film. On that level it succeeds, whereas Jackson's deliberate attempt to copycat and one-up the 1933 film was just wrong on all levels.
