A young man has a ****ty apartment. Really ty. Typical single guy, eats cereal, tv dinners. He has bad luck with the ladies. They come over, and see his place, and tell him it's not going to work out. Typical loser single guy. Wears hoodies.
One day he's getting a TV dinner out of his freezer, and sees a giant ant on the top, munching on a piece of stale bread. He doesn't think to do anything. He's just like, " it. My life it ****ty anyway. Why bother."
One day walking to work he sees a woman take a cat into a shelter. The man stares as the cat looks at him, and they lock eyes. After work, man passes by shelter again, and thinks, to walk into the shelter. Man asks desk clerk, "Can I see your cats?" He sees the cat and was taken there that morning. He bonds with it. Cat kneads his legs. But he knows he cannot provide for the cat, and apartment is ****ty and small, so he leaves.
One day while man is at work, apartment exterminator comes and sprays the inside of the apartment. Ant is still on refrigerator and breaths in the fumes. Ant tries to dodge and runs out the open front door, down the hall, to the entrance. A tenant opens, and ant walks out. Ant is outside now.
Now the POV of the ant takes over. We are POVing the ant as he walks through the streets, into the country, and seasons pass, cold weather, rain, snow, as he dodges being encounters with cars, snow being plowed on top of him, spiders, birds, and other obstacles.
Meanwhile, someone brings in a viscous barking dog to the shelter as cat is getting a bath, and he gets startled, and runs, escaping the open door. Cat runs away.
Now we see cat's POV. He has to overcome rainy weather, people trying to shoo him away with brooms, finding places to sleep, and foraging out of trashcans for food.
One day, cat sees a homeless girl cat near a trashcan. She is unkempt and feral. Fur is a mess. She usually hisses at anyone who comes near, even other cats, but she shares a moment with him. She meows flirtatiously.
CUT TO: The man has been promoted. He has now earned enough to put a down payment on his house. Things are lookin up for 'ol Dale.
At some point, ant and cat encounter each other on the streets. Cat has an inclination fo follow the ant.
Eventually, ant sees the same apartment building he started from.
CUT TO:
Closing scene:
The man is eating Chinese with a woman across from him. Apparently he found someone. There are moving boxes all over the place. The woman looks up, and sees an ant on the refrigerator. It's the same ant!
"I think there's an ant on your refrigerator"
Man looks up, sees him, pauses and smiles, and say, "Yeah…he's cool."
"Ok then"
As they're eating, they hear some whimpering.
"Do you hear that?" Says women, concerned.
Man says yes, and the walk out the apartment into the hall, and lo and behold…
It's two cats, the cat the man saw originally and the girlfriend cat, waiting down the hall, Licking each other and cuddling.
They both smile… cut to: closing credits.
END: Man has his girlfriend, new place, 2 pet cats, and ant back!

Paul McCartney dreamed the melody and lyrics to "Yesterday," and immediately wrote it down when he woke up. It's funny how we can inadvertently write things while being unconscious. It's miraculous, really. It's our brain that's doing it, without us having to contemplate.

Many great ideas began in dreams. The unconscious mind is much more creative than the conscious.
