This western from 1972 is absurdist, surrealist and certainly original. Directed by Robert Downey Sr (father of the actor who appears in the film as a boy). Some people claim it is meant to be an allegory of the life of Jesus Christ but the director vehemently denied this. I own the Scorpion Releasing dvd and an extra is an interview with Downey Sr and during the discussion it is suggested this would make a good double bill with EL TOPO.
