Today marks the 10th anniversary of the unfortunate passing of Mike Evans who played Lionel Jefferson in 33 episodes of
All In The Family
making him the most frequent actor to appear on the series other than the main four cast members including the first episode. Mike Evans went on to appear on the
Jeffersons
as Lionel Jefferson for season 1 then left to co-create and write for
Good Times
and then returned back to reprise the Lionel Jefferson in season 6. His final acting performance was Lionel Jefferson in a two part episode
Sayonara.
Which was in the eleventh season oddly enough would turn out to be the final season of
The Jeffersons

He was an extremely talented man. No offense to Damon Evans but he played Lionel as if he had been raised in wealth.
Michael played Lionel like he had grown up in poverty or at least had some struggles. You could believe his street cred.
