      Maybe he just liked to be addressed as Bentley.

        I guess for the same reason he called George and Louise Mr. And Mrs. Jefferson or Mr. and Mrs. J. I suppose it was just a matter of respect and politeness between them all

          There is an episode in the final season where he goes on a date with Florence and asks her to call him that. Maybe he didn't mind it because he was an Englishman and liked formality?
