    just kidding. What a classic and I'm glad they only did as many episodes as they did. I've spent the best part of my 43 years spouting quotes from this show.

      Glad you were kidding. If they DID a remake it would probably have people like James Corden in it, Polly would be black and Basil wouldn't be allowed to abuse Manuel.

        I did see the failed American version of the show with john larroquette. Payne was the name of the show and his character's name was Royal Payne.
        most times, the American versions of the famous british shows have potential but are poorly executed and thought out by the writers/producers.
        Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

            There was an American version in the 80's called AMENDA'S. Starring Bea Arthur in the Basil role. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds. Funny thing, FAWLTY TOWERS lasted 12 episodes and is considered Great Britain's best tv show. AMENDA'S last the same amount of episodes and is consider a total failure.
