As sold to a child during the 1970's:
"Steve Austin sees a luminous vision of himself following a car accident in which he sustains a head injury. Plagued by this and subsequent similar visions, he consults a parapsychologist who theorizes that Steve Austin's spirit was detached from his body when he was clinically dead following the accident that led to his rebirth as a bionic man. She believes that his spirit is now seeking to rid itself of his body by killing him. These strange and seemingly inexplicable events coincide with the arrival of two foreign agents who are seeking to steal secrets regarding OSI's bionics program."
As watched again in 2015:
Steve Austin has a car accident and crashes. He sees an illuminated image of his spirit. The image has no backdrop behind it (no screen) yet a projector somehow cast the image into a forest.
While Steve is in the hospital recovering, he again witnesses his 'spirit' on a rooftop. The image was shown at the same time Steve is looking out the window, but disappears before Rudy and Oscar can witness it. The timing is unrealistic.
Dr. Margaret Winslow places Steve under hypnosis. While Steve is remembering the circumstances of his original crash, Winslow is "taken over by the spirit" and attempts to kill Steve. Steve comes out of the hypnosis just in time to stop her. She claims that the spirit 'took control' of her. When the actual origin of the spirit is revealed, this destroys the credibility of this entire scene.
Steve then sees his spirit outside of Winslow's window which would require exact timing to know he'd be looking out the window. When Steve attempts to chase after it, his car starts and drives away - without a driver. This is never explained.
The spirit then appears in the forest when Dr. Winslow calls for it to appear without anyone turning on the projector.
I know - it's overanalyzing things as one sees the world more analytically but this episode was just awful. -

Whoa, folks. I got something totally different from this episode- namely, there really was a spirit out there ALONG with the bad guys faking things. I thought the paranormal expert was sincere and really was briefly taken over or whatever. So many of the 'mistakes' that were pointed out can be explained if there really was something supernatural going on at the same time the bad guys were doing their crime.
