A little known fact:
Charles invented the blow-dryer in 1874. It was a complex contraption that consisted of a blacksmith's bellows connected to the forge. Two people were necessary to operate it; one needed to regulate the heat from the forge as the other person pumped the bellows in the direction of the client's hair.
It was not without its problems. Charles was involved in a mishap while the device was in the early stages of development. He ended up permanently singeing off his beard, which explains why he always appeared to be clean-shaven.
Plans to patent his invention were hindered when the blacksmith's business was bought out by some strange fellow with an affinity for clown masks. Charles soon abandoned all plans of marketing his device, and went back to attempting to grow a wheat crop. -

Since you're the only recent poster here, I'll reply to you.
That Brooklyn was a "burro" of New York City. LHOP was set in the 1870s and it didn't happen for about twenty more years.

Thanks. It seems that there is not much in the way of television/movie discussions at this site, with the General Discussion subforum being the most active.
I didn’t read the entire thread, but was referring to the closing scene when Laura was running with her arms straight out, like a plane/bird.

I believe most of the anachronisms were intentional. Landon was likely more concerned with humor than historical accuracy.
