Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Walking Tall

Just completed, and due to be released in April of 2005, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be taking a turn as Buford Pusser. Enought time has passed that I think most younger people hardly know of this version.

Haha, this is my dad's favorite movie of all time so I know all about it. Hehe. It so won't be as good as the original.

If you look at the page that has the remake of the movie Walking Tall, the movie will not be released in 2005 but in 2004 (tomorrow to be in fact) and The Rock doosen't play the character by the name of Bufford Pusser, but instead he play the character by the name of Chris Vaughn. Maby I am wrong but, isen't Bufford Pusser and Chris Vaughn the same character or are they different?

They are basically the same character. Why the name change? I don't know. I have seen the remake. Better stick with this original and it is available on DVD and it's not expensive.

I agree, the original is no doubt the best. I have had a chance to see the new Walking Tall, and the Rock was a hit!! The plot was similar in ways, adding a modern day twist, but in all it was accurate with what really happened to sherriff Pusser!

                  Blockbuster.com, $7.99.
Although the Rock was great in The Scorpion King and The Rundown, Baker ruled this one. This is a classic, politically incorrect, brutal movie of the 70's and can't truly be remade in any way.

It was not the Rock's finest hour. I was really disappointed and was hoping for so much more.
