I've just discovered that after a thirty-year wait, the soundtrack is now available. The EAN is 0-9992-55474-2-4, and it's available at least from German amazon (the film being a German co-production) for about ten euros.
So the fans have actually succeeded. It would just be nice if the DVD version weren't so lousy; the version they show on TV each Christmas seems to have been digitally remastered, but for some reason they didn't bother with that for the DVD. Would be nice if they issued a special edition with better quality.

I've just been wonderingabout the soundtrackof this film time flies..
but you can find all the main titles on other CDs.so there was no need to digitally remaster the DVD completely
