I remember actually seeing this pale imitation of 1970'S AIRPORT which starred Charlton Heston as the pilot of a plane that's being hijacked by a crazed former Vietnam vet (James Brolin). Yvette Mimieux played the head stewardess who had an affair with Heston and other passengers on the plane included Mariette Hartley, Jeanne Crain, Claude Akins, Walter Piedgon, and Susan Dey. I remember a moment that always made me snicker when Brolin comes up to Susan Dey and tells her "You've sure got a pretty mouth". Every disaster flick cliche you can think of comes up here but what I remember most about this film was the totally off the wall performance by James Brolin as the hijacker. I would think Mr. Sreisand would have removed this one from his resume by now.

oh, as i was watching this last time i thought it was the first one of those movies, though now i see charlton heston who has the lead in this, actullay appears to be the lead in "Airport 1975" (second "Airport" movie i guess.)
      to the desert i went,
where there stood a little tent,
a fortune teller looked into her magic bowl,
bad things are waiting up ahead for you she told,
i read you never had a year without trouble before,
so what do you expect gonna happen the next 12 months, you condemned soul,
      oh, and happy new year.

Both this & Airport 1975 were on reg TV within a few nights of one another, one of the networks understood that no one would watch both since most viewers would think they were the same film. planes, same main lead (Heston) etc
Some years back the posters for BLACK SUNDAY (PARAMOUNT) & TWO MIN WARNING (UNIVERSAL) looked very much alike, too much alike, so PARAMOUNT called UNIVERSAL
asking them to change their poster since in BS the blimp was one of the main things in the story line, so UNIVERSAL went along.

I prefer this one to Airport because it's much shorter than that film and thankfully doesn't get bogged down in sudsy soap opera-ish subplots like Airport did.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
