      Yes, he was supposed to be Scottish; the other clue being when early in the film the other steward said to him, "You even fancy bagpipes".

            I rather fancy it. I always liked the soft mellifluous quality of Roddy McDowall's voice. Pity that Acres got bumped off first.

              I always liked McDowall a lot. I had hoped he would have been one of the survivors, or at least made it halfway through the film.
